1. Try the links under Australian, Business or Health Statistics shown elsewhere in this guide.
Some of these sources (eg. ABS) let you drill down to regional local area level data.
2. Try Census and Statistical Profile Publications.
Check the search tips in the Census Data section of this guide.
A list of many hardcopy Census titles is also available in the How to Find Facts & Statistics about the Illawarra guide [PDF]
3. Try Annual Reports and Research Reports.
The Library holds a range of government/organisation reports which provide information and statistics on the Illawarra region. To locate these on the Library Catalogue use a word search in combination with a broad keyword. If necessary add limiting words such as survey* OR statistic* OR report* etc.
Keywords> (illawarra or wollongong) and health*
Keywords> (illawarra or wollongong) and population
Also try searching for similar reports available online using a search engine such as Google Advanced Search.
4. Try Newspaper Articles.
Newspaper articles sometimes refer to surveys or other types of data collected specifically on the Illawarra region. Try searching newspapers such as the Illawarra Mercury and Sydney Morning Herald. For more information refer to the Newspapers guide.
