Open Access: Open access and grants

NHMRC and ARC grants

The National Health and Medical Research Council introduced an open access policy effective as of 1 July 2012.

The Australian Research Council (ARC) also introduced an open access policy for ARC funded research, which took effect from 1 January 2013.

Both the ARC and NHMRC policies require that publications arising from a supported research project must be deposited into an open access institutional repository within a twelve month period from the date of publication. UOW supports the availability of these publications within the UOW repository, Research Online.

We will check copyright of all your publications before they are included in RO to ensure compliance with publisher policies on self-archiving. See Copyright and Research Online for more information.

If requested by the Library, please supply a final manuscript (author's version, usually a Word document) of your publication for inclusion within the institutional repository. Your publications can be submitted to the Library via email: or via our online form.

When submitting your publications to us, please provide the grant ID numbers to which your publications are linked.
