UOW increasing access to research

Approximately 50% of UOW research publications are freely available as full-text through Research Online. Ease of access enhances impact and opportunities for scholarly collaboration.

A top ranking repository

Research Online is the University of Wollongong's 'open access' digital archive of research outputs. As of July 2017 it contained over 60,000 scholarly items and has generated more than 17 million full-text downloads since going live in 2006.

Research Online is ranked within the top 1% of institutional repositories internationally – 33rd out of 2455, and 3rd in Australia.

Institutional repositories such as RO enhance the visibility, discoverability and impact of research outputs by the exposure of material to researchers through search engines such as Google.

UOW Researchers: Ensure your recent publications are in RO. Submit the final manuscript version (usually a Word doc) of your publications to or upload them using our online form, for discoverability in Research Online and Google.
