Library support for researchers

Increase your impact

Publish free and accessible versions of your work. The University's open access repository, Research Online, will make available full-text  versions of your work and ensure you are complying with your publisher's copyright requirements. This will increase the impact of your research because:

  • anyone can access your work without encountering paywalls
  • anyone can reference your work on social media
  • other researchers around the world can build on your work
  • anyone can use your work freely in an educational context
  • search engines can find your research on the web.

Contact the Library for information on managing your publications. See discoverability and Open Access for how to make your research more discoverable.

Make your research data publicly available so you can:

  • contribute to a stronger knowledge economy
  • encourage other researchers to build on your work
  • encourage collaboration
  • contribute to the education of new researchers.

See research data for a selection of data repositories.

Manage your name

Manage your author profiles and identities so all your research outputs are discoverable under the one name.

It's also important to use the same form of your name for all published and unpublished research outputs.

Find the right journal for your article

Find journals that will maximise the impact of your research.

See journal quality and journal finder tools to learn how.
