EndNote X3 ande X4 is available to download for Windows or Mac (for home and personal computers).

Please note that  Endnote X3 is not compatible with Word 2010 for Windows or Word 2011 for Macs. If you have Word 2010 or 2011, please download EndNote X4.

For this reason the Library recommends that you check the version of Microsoft Office installed on your computer before installing Endnote.  The University currently supports up to and including Endnote X3 AND Office 2007 on ITS managed desktops.

Have a personal computer with Word 2010 or later?  EndNote X4 is for you.

Please note when you have Endnote X4 installed on your personal computer and wish to access your Endnote library on a UOW computer, our tests indicate that Endnote X4 libraries can be accessed by Endnote X3 and vice versa. If you have any problems with the use of Endnote X4 please contact the Library using Ask a Librarian.

For clients on EndNote X1 or earlier the year 2010 will not import from databases and the field remains blank.  EndNote X3 and later will import 2010 and subsequent years into the correct field.

What is EndNote?

EndNote software manage references, images, notes and other files in an EndNote library. It also links references to a Word document and automatically creates a bibliography.

EndNote has many output styles including specific journal styles.  The default style for University of Wollongong is Harvard.  In EndNote choose "author-date" style as this is closest to the UOW Harvard style.
