Open data
Research data that is openly available for others to reuse is called open data. Open data can be produced by government agencies, organisations, institutions or researchers, and is found in a variety of locations including repositories, archives and websites.
You can find out more in the The Open Data Handbook.
Why publish open data?
Publishing your research data and datasets allows for your data to be reused and cited in other works. Open access to publicly funded research and data is required by both the ARC and the NHMRC, you will need to meet their open access requirements for any data created as part of your project.
