Open research software
Research software includes tools used to conduct research and analysis, and code or software created by researchers during the research process. Code or software can be considered in the same way as your other research sources and outputs.

It is important to cite the creators of code or software that you use; and apply a licence and identifier to code or software you create which enables adaptations of your work to be shared. Release of source code under an open source licence can be a powerful tool for building a community of users and contributors and can enable impact.
Research software published through commercial or institutional repositories can be made discoverable through Research Data Australia.
