Support for grants, awards, probation & promotion

You will be asked to demonstrate the impact of your research activities for grants, awards, and academic promotion and probation processes. Evidence of your research impact from traditional and alternative metrics will support your narrative on the significance of your research outputs.

Before you begin, it’s important to learn how to:

• Use metrics responsibly
• Optimise researcher profiles to make gathering metrics easier.

The Library provides advice and guidance on:

• Publication metrics
• Researcher metrics
• Alternative metrics that support traditional and non-traditional research outputs
• Identifying evidence to support claims of impact outside academia.

The Library’s Research & Engagement team can work with you to understand and apply the metrics or evidence, supporting the narrative you create.

AI in grant applications and peer review

Researchers should be aware, if you're considering using AI tools to develop grant applications or to peer review, that the Australian Research Council (ARC) and the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) have released policies providing guidance in relation to the use of AI tools.
