Goal: The goal is the result that you aim to achieve, understanding a new concept, completing a project, or improving a skill. The goal should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (SMART) to provide a clear direction.
Context: The context is the circumstances or setting in which you are working. This could include the subject matter, the resources available, your prior knowledge, and the learning environment. Understanding the context can help tailor the learning process to your needs.
Expectations: Give GenAI tools clear instructions to ensure the output meets your expectations
Output: The output is what the GenAI provides for you, it should reflect the achievement of your goals.
If the output is what you need, then you have successfully achieved your goal/s (Yes). However, if the output is not what you want (No), you need to refine and adapt your prompt/s and go back to the first step. This could involve redefining the goal, understanding the context better or adjusting your instructions.
GenAI uses patterns and algorithms to simulate human-like responses, however, it doesn’t possess the capability to think or reason like humans do. To get the most effective results from AI, it’s crucial to provide prompts that are both detailed and descriptive.
Visit the Digital Skills Hub for more on how to develop good prompts.
