Library support for teaching & learning

For Subject Coordinators, Tutors and other teaching academics

Please note:

We strongly recommend using electronic resources in reading lists to support flexible learning and greater equity of access.

There will be delays in adding to subject readings if a physical book chapter needs to be scanned or if Document Delivery is needed in order to source a copy.

There are limited staff currently working from the Library building and a number of university libraries are closed due to lockdowns in both NSW and Victoria so it may be difficult for us to source material to support your subject.

Set texts will not be available as 2-day loans. They can be borrowed for the normal loan period, subject to recall.

All Subject Readings follow Australian copyright law.

Subject Readings

New Subject Readings tool from Summer Session 2021

From Summer Session 2021/2022, the Library is introducing a new Subject Readings tool that integrates with Moodle. More information can be found on the Library news website.

Subjects commencing from Summer Session and beyond can add the new tool to their Moodle site. It provides improved functionality and flexibility to build your reading list, significantly improving the user experience for you and your students.

The first step is to add the Subject Readings activity to your Moodle site. From there, choose to either:

  • request a migration of readings from last year (which you can check and edit in the new system), or
  • create a new list.
See the new Subject Readings guide for staff for step-by-step instructions on how to edit, organise and submit your list.

For subjects that commenced prior to 1 October 2021:

The previous subject readings site (Equella) may contain reading lists for subjects that commenced prior to Summer Session and haven't started using the new tool.

If your subject commenced prior to 1 October 2021 and you would like to notify the Library of new or changed readings, submit or update your Subject Readings using our online submission form.

Make sure your submission includes:

  • your readings in a week by week format, or indicate priorities for start of session
  • full bibliographic citation details, OR provide your subject outline as an attachment
  • up to 50 readings per subject
  • any special instructions, including readings you need removed from your list.

For course textbooks, include edition (if applicable)
