Footnoting
The Footnoting referencing style is widely used in the classical fields of study. There are many variations of this style including Oxford, Chicago, Turabian and Documentary Note.
The version that appears in this tutorial is based on the examples provided in:
Style manual for authors, editors and printers 2002, 6th edn, John Wiley, Milton, Qld.
The Footnoting Referencing Style has two main features
- Citing: when you refer to another author's work in your work, you must cite your source by inserting a footnote number in your text. In the footnote at the bottom of the page write a full description of the source.
- Bibliography: at the end of your assignment provide a complete list of everything you have used when researching your assignment. It should include the references you cited as well as other sources you may have read but not quoted from.
