Reference list

  • Only put the location if it is not obvious from the name of the institution e.g., La Trobe University, Bundoora. University of Wollongong would be enough on its own.
  • A thesis is not usually a published work, so in most instances the title is not in italics, but is placed within single quote marks.
  • If a thesis has been published, the title is placed in italics.
  • Under format you should also state whether it is a PhD thesis, Master’s thesis (eg MA, MPhil etc.) or Honours thesis.
